Growing and Aligning: A Journey Worth Taking

You know how life sometimes feels like we're in a race against time? Running from one thing to the next, like when you're trying to catch the bus and forget something at home - that kind of crazy!

We're so busy trying to get to the next thing that we forget to look back and see how far we've come. It's like climbing a mountain - sometimes you need to stop, catch your breath, and look at the view behind you.

Think about this: we're like seeds in the ground, always changing, always growing. If you've ever had a plant (I kill them all the time, but that's another story!), you know that if you give it water and love, little by little it grows into something beautiful. But if you forget about it... well, let's just say I have a lot of experience with that too! We're the same way—we need care and attention to grow into our best selves.

Here's the thing about change, though - it's going to happen whether we like it or not... Change is inevitable... But there's a big difference between just letting life push you around like a leaf in the wind and actually choosing which way you want to grow. It's like deciding which trail you want to hike - sure, you could just follow wherever your feet take you, but isn't it better to pick a path that excites you?

And speaking of paths - can we talk about achievements for a minute? Sometimes we're so focused on where we want to go that we forget to celebrate how far we've come! It's funny how we can be living the exact life we dreamed about years ago, and we don't even realize it. Have you ever have that feeling of finally reach that viewpoint after a long hike, and the view just takes your breath away? that's what looking back at your achievements should feel like!

Growing as a person isn't something that just happens while you're busy doing other things - no no! It's like training for a marathon (not that I've ever done one, but you get the idea!). You have to show up, put in the work, and most importantly, you have to want it. It's not just about moving forward; sometimes the biggest changes happen inside, where nobody can see them. In those cases, you don't move forward, you move inward!

Now, let's talk about goals - they're like having a GPS for your life! Without them, we're just wandering around like tourists without a map (been there, done that!). Or like weeds in the garden, would you rather grow in your backyard, beautiful Rhododendron (sorry, I'm in the Pacific Northwest and love those!) or wild, unwilding blackberries?

When we don't have goals and a clear plan of where we want to go, we keep changing, but not in the direction we want. We change in wild ways that may or may not support, our life vision.

Now, have you ever had a goal, I mean, a SMART goal (you know, the ones that are Specific, Measurable, all that good stuff), that didn't work, but left you wondering "what in the world went wrong here?"

Why? Because our mind is like two different people having a conversation. One part is making all these great plans (the goal setter), while the other part is working behind the scenes trying to make things happen (the goal getter). And if these two aren't talking to each other? Well, it's like trying to dance salsa when your partner is dancing tango - it just doesn't work!

That's why alignment is so important. When your conscious mind (the one making all the plans) and your unconscious mind (the one doing all the work) are working together, that's when the magic happens! Sometimes we achieve our goals without even realizing it, easy, and other times we wonder why things aren't working out even when we're doing everything "right."

This is why being aligned with your goals as you grow is so important. The question right now is, do you want to know what do you want? What do you want to grow into?

Want to learn more about how to make all this work together? I'm running a goal-setting workshop where we'll dive deep into all of this. We'll explore how to get both parts of your mind dancing to the same rhythm, so you can create the life you've been dreaming of.

Remember, just like on a hike, sometimes the path isn't clear, but that doesn't mean you're lost - you're just on discovering!
